Notes & Combos

This is a really good deck with a really good skill... that came 2 years late. The skill is too fair, you still can brick like crazy, but it's Nekroz, it's really fun. Opted to run Dweller cos Bison checks Unicore in the Salamangreat match up. Gugnir is mostly for the Hero match up.

Hopefully this meta will get better after Konami punishes decks that are getting too much advantage via skill and this deck can be more competitive.

Until then, see ya!

2 Unicore is doable, but with 2 Area your deck will suffer with a bit more inconsistency, since Area is the guy that procs the skill and fixes our hand. It's also doable, but if I had to pick between 2 Area and 3 Uni and 3 Area and 2 Uni, I'd pick 3 Area and 2 Uni.

Thanks for this, I've been working on my own deck list. I only plan to go through the box twice though so I'll probably have to make do with 2 Area and 2 Unicore.

So basically, this deck blows fat **** and can't compete because the skill is mediocre compared to the ones we have on these days

wow thank you so much konami, thanks for "helping" this deck LATE, VERY ****** LATE

good job my friend, nice deck.

You'd think they'd give the 0 card combo to a deck that desperately needs consistency, but turns out they decided to give it to a deck that is already consistent

theyre the one who makes all those freakish skills. even if they do nerf those skills, we dont call that a punish. theyre just moving on to their next bait for us to spend more money.

Yeah, I mean you aren't wrong. I tried Nekroz out myself because it's always been one of my favorite control decks, but I feel like Nekroz of Areadbhair and Nekroz of Unicore came way too late in Duel Links's life cycle for them to see any play competitively. Don't get me wrong, I do think Nekroz of Areadbhair and Nekroz of Unicore are both really good cards, but I'm not sure on how well Nekroz is going to do in 2025. The deck is basically at full power now barring Nekroz of Sophia. That being said, I still think Nekroz might be a bit too slow in terms of what it wants to do, which is survive on Nekroz of Valkyrus if you go first and try to break your opponent's board via Nekroz of Brionac + Nekroz of Trishula going second. I'm still testing the deck, but those were just my initial thoughts on new Nekroz after briefly testing it out in a few duels.

~~~~~
As for the Nekroz of Dragonflame skill, you kind of already said it. The skill is too fair and it can be countered, unlike a certain HERO skill we all know (Dragonic Contact). All the opponent has to do is D.D. Crow the Nekroz of Areadbhair when you activate its effect to discard and you will cry as you just went minus 3 in your hand and got nothing out of it, not even your skill activation. On top of that, Droll & Lock Bird cooks this deck really hard, which is also another thing to keep in mind.
~~~~~

To me, Nekroz is still the same as it's always been back in 2021 when it first came out. The only thing that's different now is that the deck has a dedicated skill (which barely does anything) and an actual boss monster (Nekroz of Unicore). Now, if you went first, you don't have to just pass with Nekroz of Valkyrus in your hand. You can sit on Nekroz of Unicore with Nekroz of Valkyrus + Nekroz of Trishula in the hand, which is again the same endboard as before but with Nekroz of Unicore added onto it. The other bad part of this deck is that Nekroz of Unicore also gets cooked by tech cards, namely Book of Moon, Book of Eclipse, Forbidden Droplet, etc.

~~~~~
In the end, I'm also hoping for a meta shakeup. The game has been feeling quite stale to me for a while now since we are in a two deck format. I am hoping HERO and Salamangreat get the banlist hits they so rightfully deserve to not only shake up the meta but also allow more variety to what's being played on ladder and in tournaments. The game has been feeling very stale so hopefully Konami does something about it. Congrats on the King of Games! =)
