Notes & Combos

Duel Link has finally released a new Pendulum deck... which is incredibly unpleasant to play.

Vaylant is a deck that relies on zone control, and since Duel Link only has three zones, there are more disadvantages than advantages:

  • Grand Duke can be summoned at any time, as it requires a level 5+ Vaylant in a column with an Extra Zone, making it easier to summon than in the TCG.
  • There isn't enough room to move, forcing me to use a generic Link 2 (Pentestag) to create space for my combo.
  • Due to the lack of space, if your opponent fails to manage your board, you lack the space to make further actions on turn 3, meaning your turn 3 boils down to attacking and getting lethal, if your set pieces don't prevent it. TURNS 3 ARE A PURGE!

I don't recommend playing this deck. I enjoyed it because Pendulum is my favorite mechanic, not because the deck itself is fun. Furthermore, because of its mechanic, Droplet and BOE, the two best staples, are unplayable in this deck. This limits you to HT or BOM/Chalice.

Odd-Eyes Synchro is my norm for this deck; it allows me to play Herald on turn 1 and Savage on turn 3, but you have to draw it.

My endboard ends with:

  • Artkos, 1 destroy,
  • Mamonaka, 1 removal,
  • Solfa Package, 1 omni-negate with GrandSolfa, 1 pop with Coolia,
  • Herald if you have Odd-Eyes, 1 omni-negate.

Due to the time between the box and the end of the season, my decklist was put together hastily. I'm thinking of playing a 30-card version to play each land twice, as well as removing Odd-eyes to play the Solfa norm.
